How do you choose the right inflatable pool?
There is a wide range of inflatable pools available. To help you choose the right one straight away, we’ve listed the key factors to consider.
- Who is the pool designed for?
-Babies and toddlers: Choose a shallow baby pool (often with a soft, inflatable base) or a pool with a built-in sunshade to protect them from UV rays.
-Older children: A play pool with a slide, water fountains or simply a slightly wider ring gives children the space to play safely.
-The whole family: Look at the larger models (such as the well-known pools with an inflatable rim). Adults can sit comfortably in these whilst the children play. - What size will fit in the garden?
Don’t just look at the size of the pool itself, but also at the space around it. We recommend keeping at least 1 metre of free space around the pool. This prevents damage from branches or fences and ensures everyone can get in and out safely. - Shape of the pool
A round pool distributes the water pressure evenly and is ideal for sitting together comfortably. Do you have a long, narrow garden or do you want to make the most of the space in a corner? Then a rectangular or square model is often more practical.
Setting up and maintaining your inflatable pool
Inflatable swimming pools are known for being easy to use. Small children’s pools can be easily inflated using a hand or foot pump. With larger pools (the so-called Fast Set or Easy Set models), you only need to inflate the top ring. As soon as you fill the pool with water, the rim rises automatically and the pool takes on its sturdy shape.
Extend the life of your swimming pool
Although inflatable pools are made from sturdy, multi-layered PVC, the surface on which they are placed remains a crucial consideration. Never place an inflatable pool directly on sharp stones or twigs. Always use a good groundsheet or special pool tiles. This not only protects the bottom of your pool from leaks, but also feels softer underfoot. Also ensure that you store the pool completely dry and clean in a frost-free area after the season.
Frequently asked questions about inflatable swimming pools
- How do I keep the water in an inflatable pool clean?
For small pools, we recommend changing the water every day or every other day. For larger inflatable pools (from approx. 2000 litres), we recommend using a small filter pump in combination with gentle pool chemicals, such as a chlorine dispenser with mini tablets. Always cover the pool with a tarpaulin when it is not in use, to keep leaves and insects out of the water. - Can I place an inflatable pool on tiles or artificial grass?
Yes, that is perfectly possible, provided the surface is completely level. However, we strongly recommend placing protective pool tiles (foam interlocking mats) or a sturdy groundsheet underneath the pool. This prevents wear and tear from the hard tiles and protects your artificial grass. - Can I repair a hole in an inflatable pool myself?
Absolutely. Most pools come with a repair patch. Make sure the area around the hole is completely dry and free of grease, stick the patch on and press it down firmly. You can often use the pool again after just an hour. - What is the best way to inflate the pool?
For larger pools, use an electric pump; this saves a lot of time and effort. For smaller models, a hand or foot pump is sufficient. Note: do not inflate the edges too much. Air expands when it gets warm in the sun. If the rim is too full, the seam may tear. - What is the difference between an inflatable pool and a frame pool?
An inflatable pool is softer, quicker to set up and does not require metal or plastic tubes for its construction. This makes them ideal for temporary use and young children. A frame pool is more robust, can hold more water and often remains in place all summer long.
