Operation:

  1. Inspect your spreader before each use. Check that the wheels travel in a straight line. The reservoir should be clean and in good condition.
  2. Do not use the spreader on windy days when spreading grass seed or herbicides.
  3. Determine the area to be worked and measure how much material is needed. Refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for this. Break up any lumpy fertilizer as you fill the reservoir.
  4. Before filling the reservoir, make sure the flow control lever is in the "0" position and the regulator is closed.
  5. When you are done spreading or serve, close the flow control lever and go one step further. This reduces waste and prevents damage to the lawn from oversaturation.
  6. Follow the manufacturer's recommended coverage rate for each product.
  7. Adjust the flow rate to maintain the same coverage when traveling at different speeds. Reduce the setting for lower speeds and increase the setting for higher speeds.
  8. Keep the spreader level during operation. Tilting the spreader results in uneven coverage.
  9. Always start stepping before opening the flow control.
  10. Always close the flow control before turning or stopping the spreader.
  11. If too much material is accidentally spread on a small area, wet the area thoroughly with a garden hose to prevent lawn burning.
  12. To ensure even coverage, make sure the strips being worked overlap slightly.
  13. Do not apply too much spreading material. Follow the recommended coverage rate for each product.
  14. Spreading too much will result in damage and contamination of the lawn

Maintenance:

It is important to clean the spreader thoroughly after use. Thisavoids contamination during subsequent use. You can easily hose off the fertilizer spreader with a garden hose and then let it dry.

How do you determine the correct flow?

The packaging of the material describes how many grams/kilogram are needed for a given area. To determine the correct flow setting, you can first perform a test on a hard surface. This way, you can sweep up and reuse the material after the test.

  1. Delineate an area of 2 square meters.
  2. Fill the spreader with the recommended amount for 2 square meters.
  3. Walk at a consistent speed (± 7 km/h).
  4. Is all the material spread out and the entire 2 square meters is covered? Then you can use this flow setting to finish the job.
  5. Do you still have grains/seed left or are you short? Then do the test again after you adjusted the flow setting.
