Barenbrug grass seed 15kg to 600m² Water Saver - Drought resistant lawn

Barenbrug Water Saver grass seed is a unique grass mixture for establishing an ecological lawn. 🌿

This grass seed results in a deep-rooting lawn that can withstand prolonged drought very well. So you can save a lot of dollars on watering!

This grass seed comes up slower than the standard grass mixture. It germinates at a soil temperature as low as 15°C. Sow from April to early October, depending on weather conditions. Do not sow at temperatures above 25°C and full sun to avoid burning.

Barenbrug Water Saver grass seed is used for establishing lawns on dry sandy soils by rooting up to 60 cm deep (instead of 10-15 cm). While other lawns fail in drought conditions, your Water Saver lawn stays green. This is because of the grass varieties that excel against drought and heat, and the regenerative ability of the seeds.

This field legume grass is highly resistant to drought and heat and can also tolerate the winter months well. So with Water Saver, you have a beautiful lawn all year round!

Deep rooting, the path to success: Thanks to deep-rooting reed fescue, this Barenbrug Water Saver grass draws water from deeper layers of the soil. Regular grass plants root more shallowly and are only able to draw water from the top layer (top 10 to 15 cm). Not even extreme drought needs to occur and the plant dies. The reed fescue in Water Saver® can root to a depth of more than 60 cm and stores water and nutrition (sugars) in its roots. So it builds up a buffer, so to speak, for dry times. Thanks to the use of Water Saver®, up to 70% of the total amount of irrigation water can be saved.

How to use

• Level the surface, remove stones & weeds and fertilize the soil
• Sow in two crossed directions
• Rake the soil gently to bury the seeds and roll the surface for good contact between the soil and seeds
• Irrigate regularly to prevent desiccation
• Mow at grass length 6-8 cm, cut to 4 cm. Germination 2-4 weeks. Mow regularly, and fertilize & water sufficiently

Composition Barenbrug Water Saver grass seed:

• 80% Reed fescue
• 10% Field meadowgrass
• 10% ryegrass

The composition of the grass seed can sometimes differ (slightly) from the description. This depends on the availability and harvest of the various types of grass the grass seed contains. Since it is a natural product, it is not always possible to guarantee a 100% identical product as with artificial products. Barenbrug carefully selects the best grasses for their seed mixtures, with a high germination percentage. Should a particular type of grass fail, they switch to another type of grass as a worthy substitute in their mixtures.
