5 tips for enjoying your Christmas tree longer
Have you found the perfect Christmas tree and decorated it beautifully with twinkling lights, glittering garlands & luxurious ornaments? Then of course you want to enjoy your beautiful "creation" as long as possible. Our tips will help you!
🎄 Everything starts with the choice of your tree. Are you going to pick up the tree yourself in a garden centre?
Then
rub the needles to see if they will not come off. The beautiful & healthy green colour should also be present. Brown needles indicate specimens that will probably not survive the holiday season. If you are tired of lugging around a Christmas tree, you can order a Christmas tree from us online in a few clicks and it will be delivered to your door a few days later!
🎄 No matter how tempting it is to start working with the garlands and baubles right away, be patient and let the tree
acclimatise in a garage, shed or other cool room for a day first. Otherwise, the transition from the cold outside air to the warm living room will be too great, which is detrimental to your Christmas tree!
🎄 Have you let the tree get used to it, and is it time to give it a place in your home? Then
move it away from the heating or fireplace. The warmer the tree gets, the faster it will dry out and drop its needles.
🎄Provide a Christmas tree stand with a water reservoir so that the tree has no chance of drying out. When the tree arrives, you can cut an extra piece off the trunk and let it drink from a bucket before putting it up. If you have bought a tree with a root ball, then make sure that the pot is big enough and that you water it sufficiently every day. Make sure that there are holes in the bottom of the pot so that excess water can drain away, and place a dish underneath so that your floor doesn't get damaged.
🎄 A Christmas tree also needs
fresh air and sunlight. So you do it a big favour by putting it in a bright spot. Make sure it gets some fresh air now and again, but avoid draughts.
Tip from Marcel
Do you want a picture of a tree in your home that loses few needles? Then choose the abies Nordmanniana, or the Nordmann for short. In recent years, this tree has been brought into the living room more and more often, and that is not undeserved. Its biggest advantage is that its needles hardly ever fall out. That saves you a lot of tidying up!
