- The eco-friendly solution
A funnel trap with a pheromone capsule is the eco-friendly solution to the box tree moth! Trap the box tree moths in the trap and break the cycle! đŚ
The set includes a funnel trap and four pheromone capsules, enough for an entire season. Contains an attractant (pheromone) that lures male box tree moths, thereby preventing reproduction. Female moths can no longer lay eggs if they are not fertilized, resulting in fewer future larvae. This allows you to control the box tree moth in your garden in an eco-friendly way.
Pheromone capsulesâwhatarethey?
These capsules release pheromonesâa sexual attractantâthat draw male box tree moths into the trap. This prevents them from fertilizing any female box tree moths present. Itâs an eco-friendly way to keep your garden free of box tree moths. Since itâs a scent-based product, the capsule contains no liquid. It may look empty, but it does indeed contain pheromones.

Where to hang it?
Hang the pheromone trap near the boxwood (for example, on a tree). Place 1 trap per 50 m² (severe infestation) or 1 trap per 100 m² (mild infestation) from early April through early October. Box tree moths fly at a height of 1.7 m, so youâll catch more of them if the trap is hung at this height.
How long does it last?
A pheromone capsule is normally active for 6 weeks. However, during warmer months, the effective period is 4 weeks because the pheromones will âevaporateâ more quickly due to the heat. Be sure to replace the pheromone capsule at the right time. In total, youâll need 4 to 6 capsules for a full season.
When to use?
Late May through mid-October. Replace the pheromones every 4 to 6 weeks.
How?
⢠Do not touch the capsule! Your own body odor will interfere with the scent. Drop the capsule into the trap without touching it, or use gloves to handle it.
⢠Do not open the capsule, or the pheromones will evaporate
⢠Place the capsule in the designated spot inside a funnel trap.
⢠The male moths will fly around the pheromone until they become exhausted and fall into the funnel trap. Once inside the funnel trap, they cannot escape.
Storage?
You can store the capsules for up to 2 years in the freezer, or for several months in the refrigerator. Keep the aluminum pouch sealed if you donât need the capsule yet.
