Product information "Shrub bean - pressing block 10x10 cm - common bean - low growing"
Beans are native to South America and belong to the family of leguminous plants. The legume family, with about twenty thousand species, is one of the largest families of flowering plants. The family is found all over the world. A bean, legume, is actually the expanded ovary of a flower that contains seeds.
CULTIVATION TIPS:
Beans do not like manure, but they do like compost and will grow on most types of soil as long as it is not too acidic. In this case you should definitely use lime. Choose a sunny spot in the garden, as they are heat-loving plants. As mentioned above, use plenty of compost when preparing the plot. By planting out bush beans at different times you can spread out the harvest. Beans do not tolerate night frost. So wait with planting out until after 10-15 May. Plant the beans with a space of 10 to 15 cm between them, preferably in a spot where a piece of black plastic has been stretched over the soil a week or 2 before so that the soil has warmed up a little. Since beans don't like too moist soil, even in hot and dry weather you should only water every two days.
HARVEST AND STORAGE:
Beans are best picked young and tender. In the summer, pick at least twice a week. Picking regularly ensures a longer and richer harvest. The best way is to eat the harvested beans the same day, but you can also store them in a cool place for a few days (preferably not in the refrigerator because it is too cold).
PROBLEMS AND DISEASES:
In beans, we can quite often have to deal with black aphids that completely destroy the crop. Timely and adequate measures against this are certainly necessary. Contact your garden center.
