Do you want to keep your pool water clear and clean with a minimum of effort? The sand filter pump is the best choice. This powerful filtration solution purifies the water thoroughly and is suitable for medium-sized to large pools. Thanks to the combination of filtration sand (or glass beads) and an efficient pump, you benefit from long-lasting, powerful filtration.
What is a sand filter pump?
A sand filter pump works by sucking in pool water and forcing it through a container of filter sand or filter glass. The sand traps dirt, dust, insects and other impurities. The purified water then flows back into the pool. Regular backwashing ensures that the filter capacity is maintained.

Frequently asked questions about pool sand filter pumps
What power should my sand filter pump have?
Which sand filter pump is suitable for your pool depends mainly on the pool size. A sand filter pump should be able to filter all the water in 4 to 5 hours. To choose the right sand filter pump, divide the total pool volume by 4. The number you get is the minimum flow (in litres per hour) required for your pool. Note that if you connect pool accessories to the pump, such as a saltwater system or pool heater, this will create extra resistance for the pump. In that case, you might need a sand filter pump with a higher pump capacity. The product page of the specific pool accessory always states the minimum pump capacity.
Which filter medium should I use?
Filter glass lasts 80% longer than regular filter sand and cleans pool water more efficiently. Filter glass also requires less frequent backwashing than when using filter sand. Filter balls also filter pool water very efficiently and, thanks to their light weight, are a lot more practical and easier to use: 500 g of filter balls does the same as 18 kg of filter sand! You can clean filter balls via backwash or you can wash them by hand.
How long should a sand filter pump be on per day?
The entire contents of your pool should be fully filtered at least 4 times a day. So how long the sand filter pump needs to be on depends on the number of litres in your pool and the capacity of your pool (how many litres the pool can filter per hour). The general rule is often 8 hours, but can therefore vary. You certainly don't need to keep the pump running day & night, as this wastes energy and money unnecessarily!
The optimum filter time is during the warmest hours of the day (when the sun is on the water) because that's when algae development is at its highest.
