Install your Vitavia greenhouse yourself or have it installed?
Vitavia does not have an assembly service. And Hermie's experts are also already too busy to come and lend a hand. However, the assembly of a Vitavia greenhouse is certainly doable by yourself. In general, a Vitavia greenhouse can be fully assembled on 2 days with 2 people. Of course, this can take longer with larger conservatories. Are you not up to it? Then you can outsource the assembly of your Vitavia greenhoue to an external professional. For example, a handyman with experience in garden constructions, gardeners or contractors.
1: Choose the perfect location
The first step in assembling your Vitavia greenhouse is, of course, choosing the place where it will be located.
- ☀️Choose a place with plenty of sun. The more hours of sunshine per day, the wider the range of vegetables and plants you can grow.
- 🚪Place your greenhouse with the doorway facing south. This way your plants can enjoy the rising sun before the sun's rays get too hot.
- 💨🚫Find a wind-free spot. This reduces the risk of glass breaking and cold winds lower the temperature inside your greenhouse.
- 🌳🚫Stay 2-3 metres away from buildings, tall trees and hedges. This is because they provide shade. A distance of 2 to 3 metres still provides shelter from the wind.
- 🏠Do not place your Vitavia greenhouse at the very end of your garden. Close to the house, the temperature is slightly higher and your plants benefit from this. Moreover, it is nice and handy. Missing some rosemary while cooking? Quickly into the greenhouse!
2: Greenhouse delivery + check
The time has come! The transport company is coming to deliver your greenhouse. Ready to start. But make sure to check that everything is included and that nothing is broken on delivery. Transporting glass is a risky business, no matter how carefully you handle it. See anything broken or missing in the package? Contact us immediately!
3. Collecting tools
No, you don't need to buy the entire DIY shop empty to assemble your Vitavia greenhouse. In fact, you only need a few tools, all of which can be found in a basic toolbox.
- spirit level
- electric screwdriver
- spanners
- stanley knife
- screwdrivers
- sturdy ladder
4. Install foundation
Make sure that the surface where you wish to install your Vitavia greenhouse is completely level. A good start is half the battle, as the saying goes, and this is certainly the case when mounting a (Vitavia) greenhouse. If the ground is not level, you will encounter more and more problems during assembly. A Vitavia greenhouse should be placed on the supplied foundation. This foundation can be seen as a steel frame on which the Vitavia greenhouse itself is mounted. At the corners, there are profiles that you fix into the ground using quick setting concrete.
5. Step-by-step assembly
Is the foundation of your Vitavia greenhouse firmly in place? Now for the rest of the assembly! And this is actually quite logical. For almost all Vitavia greenhouses, this is the order of assembly:
- Assemble the sides
- Assemble the rear wall
- Assemble the door facade
- Connect the side, front and rear walls and fit the roof
- Assemble the doors
- Assemble the skylights
- Fit the glazing
