gGRASS seed mats the alternative to sod

Seed mats are the newest and most user-friendly alternative to turf. You can lay out the lawn in 1-2-3, so green fingers are not required! The big advantage is that you no longer have to drag along dirty and heavy grass mats. Ideal for a city garden or small garden! What is the gGRASS™ seeding mat?

This seeding mat is made of biodegradable material, in which Barenbrug's quality grass seed is stuck. The seeding mat is 90 cm wide and allows you to plant 10 m² of lawn. Currently there are two variants: a seeding mat with Barenbrug Bar Power RPR and with Mow Saver:

• Mow saver grass seed

Provides an ornamental lawn that grows slowly. As a result, you need to mow the lawn less often. This saves you time and garden waste!

• Bar Power RPR

Provides a strong play and sports lawn for the whole family!

How does it work?

1. Level the ground
2. Dampen the soil before laying the roll
3. Roll out the seeding mat in the desired location (pin the beginning of the roll)
4. Cover the roll with a layer of soil 0.5 to 1 cm thick, and press the top layer down well (with a garden roller)
5. Water to start seed germination. Make sure the top soil does not get too dry or too humid and water every 2 to 3 days for the first 2 weeks
6. After 8 to 10 weeks, enjoy a fresh & beautiful lawn! 

When to lay them?

The ideal time to lay out a lawn is when the soil temperature is 12°C minimum. This allows the grass seed to germinate properly. Can't plant the seed mats right away? Then you can store them in a dry and cool place for at least one year.
