Help your pets through a heatwave
Not only do we seek cooling, but our (domestic) animals also suffer from these tropical temperatures. Make sure you have extra low water bowls in the house and in the garden (also for hedgehogs, chickens and birds) and never leave your animals (even for a short while) alone in the car. Never leave them alone in the car, not even in the shade or with the window ajar!
Some more tips for our dear pets🐱🐶
- Fill an empty bottle with some water and place it in the freezer. Then wrap the bottle in a thin (tea)towel and put it with your pet to cool down. Attention: Do not fill the bottle completely, because in the freezer it will expand due to the cold. You can also put this bottle in front of the ventilator/airco to make the house extra cool!
- Did you know that dogs and cats with a light hair colour can also get sunburnt? There is special sun cream to protect them.
- Only take your dog for a walk in the early morning or late evening because their paws can get burnt by the warm tiles/paving.
- Make sure that outdoor animals can find shade in a pen or under trees, and change their water preferably several times a day.
Do you notice that your animal is really not feeling well and these tips do not help? Then do not hesitate to contact your vet.
