Tip from grillmaster Marcel:
Make a pyramid of the charcoal briquettes in the center of the barbecue or use a charcoal starter. Use firelighters - or environmentally friendly wood wool kindling shavings - between the briquettes. Light the kindling in several places. Let the briquettes burn for about 20-30 minutes until they are covered with a thin layer of ash. Ensure adequate ventilation by opening the barbecue's air supply. Spread the glowing briquettes evenly over the bottom of the barbecue. Adjust the height of the grill grid if possible. Start grilling when the flames are extinguished and the briquettes are white-gray. If necessary, add new briquettes to the sides while grilling.
