Product information "Hyssop - pot 9x9 cm (Hyssopus officinalis)"
Hyssop is also called "Lavender of the North. This plant is not at all demanding.
GROWING TIPS:
Hyssop is perennial and hardy, but if it freezes it is still better to cover the roots, possibly with leaves.
Hyssop needs a well-drained soil and likes the sun. Planted near grapes, hyssop has a positive influence on the grape harvest.
The aromatic flowers are popular with butterflies and bees.
USES:
Hyssop has a spicy, somewhat peppery flavor and, processed in moderation, can be very tasty. Chop the sprigs finely and sprinkle over the dish just before serving. Use it with fish, meat, legumes, salad, soft cheese and in soup or white sauce.
The aerial parts of hyssop contain bitter substances, so the plant is good for digestion and is therefore highly recommended for fatty meals, flatulence and stomach cramps. But this herb also thins mucus and can therefore be used for respiratory diseases. If you feel a cold or flu coming on, drink three cups of hyssop infusion per day. It has a sweat-promoting effect. Pregnant women better avoid using hyssop, as it can induce menstruation.
Take care of your face with a lotion based on hyssop and you will have soft skin. You make this lotion by soaking 50 grams of flowering buds in boiled water for 10 minutes.
