Allium ursinum may sound familiar to you as wild garlic. The plant is edible and has a delicious garlic aroma, which, by the way, you can smell even when you touch it. The leaves are perfect for making pesto, while you can serve the star-shaped flowers on a salad.
Daslook is regularly found in the wild, but don't confuse it with the poisonous lily of the valley! You can both give this bulbous plant a spot in your border as a ground cover or in your herb bin. Pollinators also love to flock to the flowers!
After flowering, the leaves die off and the bulb goes dormant underground. Not to worry, because in spring it reemerges and the leaves become visible!
