Stenema contains nematodes that control pot fly larvae, fungus gnats, fruit fly larvae in compost, and thrips pupae. The nematodes enter the larvae through natural body openings and then release bacteria—with which they live in symbiosis—into the host. The bacteria are lethal to the larvae. The larvae turn pale yellow and die within 2 days. The nematodes multiply inside the dead larvae, resulting in a new generation of nematodes that set out in search of new prey. The soil temperature (potting soil) must be at least 10°C and sufficiently moist. Do not apply in direct sunlight. For treating 5 to 10 m² of soil surface area or 500 liters of potting soil/compost. The product can be stored for at least 1 week at 5°C; use before the expiration date.
