Kraunema contains nematodes that control the larvae of the yew beetle. Kraunema is applied as a curative treatment. Outdoors, Kraunema can be used in March–April and August–November. In a greenhouse or indoors (orangery), Kraunema can be used year-round because the larvae are present in the soil year-round. The soil must be moist and have a minimum soil temperature of 5°C. The soil must remain moist for 2 to 4 weeks after application. Do not apply in direct sunlight. The nematodes enter the larvae through natural body openings and then release bacteria—with which they live in symbiosis—into the host. The bacteria are lethal to the larvae. The larvae turn pale yellow and die within 2 days. The nematodes multiply inside the dead larvae, giving rise to a new generation that seeks out new prey. For 10 m². The product can be stored for at least 1 week at 5°C; use before the expiration date.
