A brown-boiling variety (old-fashioned garden bean taste and suitable for freezing) with long pods 30 cm long. They give a good yield of 5-7 beans per pod. White-black flowers and ripens quite late. This is still one of the few varieties with a black navel, formerly also called "farmer's toe". Sow from mid February to mid May in the garden in rows, one bean every 10-15 cm. Early garden bean (brown-boiling) with very long sheaths, containing 5-6 beans. Late sowing sometimes causes aphid infestation, so sow plenty of dill between the rows to keep this to a minimum.
