Spinach – Nores

Outdoor sowing time: March through July

Harvest time: May through September

Sowing instructions: Sow directly in the ground from mid-April through late July, either broadcast or in rows. Thin out slightly if necessary. To harvest young leaves, space plants 3/4 cm apart in a row; for mature plants, space them 25 cm apart.

Additional information

Spinach Nores grows slowly and is therefore suitable for summer cultivation. This large-leaved, dark-green variety does not bolt easily. The tender leaves taste excellent. The variety is also completely resistant to the troublesome fungal disease “wolf” (physi A and B).

Want to sow spinach?

Sow from mid-March through mid-July. Sow broadcast-style in a seedbed, or in rows spaced 20 cm apart. Sow in well-loosened soil. Spinach requires a lot of nitrogen. Keep the soil sufficiently moist.

Harvesting spinach

Harvest time depends on when you sow. If you sow in April, you can start cutting the leaves 6–7 weeks later. If you sow in June, you can sometimes harvest as early as 4 weeks after sowing. Remove the stubble from the field after harvesting.
