During the growing season, dahlias develop rhizomes in the soil, which should be removed before the first frost and stored in a dry, frost-free and dark place. If necessary, store the tubers in cardboard boxes with some sand. The following year, starting in mid-May, when there is no chance of frost, the tubers can be planted outside again, preferably in a very sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. These perennial plants are not hardy and reach a height of about 90 cm.
