Why buy a fire bowl?
A fire bowl is the absolute eye-catcher in any garden. Functionality and style are effortlessly combined to conjure up a warm spot. Sitting around a fire bowl in the fresh air outside is really lovely. A fire bowl is perfect for holding a campfire, but completely safe. So romance and cosiness are guaranteed with a fire bowl!
The difference between a fire basket and a fire bowl
A fire bowl is - as the word suggests - a bowl in which you can make a fire. Such a fire bowl is closed at the bottom and comes lower to the ground than a fire basket. A fire basket therefore comes higher and is open at the sides, which also allows more oxygen to reach the fire. As a result, you can normally light bigger fires in a fire basket. A classic fire basket is not designed to be used as a barbecue or grill, but Bonfeu's beautiful fire baskets are! You can even extend them with a plancha or griddle.
Fire bowl
- Design: Wide, shallow bowls made of metal or Corten steel. The open design allows you to enjoy a nice warm and cosy fire from all sides.
- Function: A fire bowl is ideal for safely lighting a campfire. With the help of the right accessories such as grill plate or skewers, a fire bowl is also perfect for use as a barbecue or for toasting marshmallows, for example.
- Placement: A fire bowl on legs or without legs can be placed on different surfaces due to its design, provided the surface is heat-resistant.
Fire basket
- Design: Fire baskets, unlike fire bowls, are narrower and higher. There are openings on the sides for ideal airflow.
- Function: A fire basket is ideal for generating heat, but the Bonfeu fire baskets can therefore also be used as a barbecue, grill or even a wok!
- Placement: A fire basket should be placed carefully and on an even surface. There should be no flammable objects around the fire basket. Because a fire basket is partly open at the sides, sparks can easily escape from the basket. So pay attention!
Corten steel fire bowls
Many fire bowls in our range are made of Corten steel. This is a material consisting of iron with an addition of copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium. Corten steel has a very unique and authentic look thanks to its brown rust colour and can be compared to stainless steel in terms of robustness.
Garden fires: Cosiness prevails
A garden fireplace differs from a classic stove in that it is easy to move. In fact, it weighs relatively little. This allows you to decide where the garden fireplace will look best. For placement, it is important that the smoke can be easily discharged. A garden fireplace is really meant to be used outdoors. Avoid closed canopies where smoke cannot escape. Terrace fireplaces or garden fireplaces are supplied with a stove pipe as standard. In our range you will also find extensions for the stove pipe or possibly bends for optimal placement.
Many of Hermie's garden fireplaces can also be used as a barbecue or in general as cooking equipment. Many of them come with grill grids or skewers as standard, while other garden fireplaces allow you to buy such accessories separately.
How to light a garden fireplace?
- Lay two logs parallel to each other and then lay another two logs in the opposite direction
- Place firelighters and/or kindling shavings in the middle of the logs and light them The logs will start burning by themselves.
- When replenishing wood, always make sure to keep your pile as stable as possible. This will result in a balanced and safe fire.
- To put out the fire, throw some sand over the fire and separate the remaining logs as much as possible.
