How to keep water healthy & clear?
Good water values are the basis for a healthy & fresh dive! Measuring is knowing, so keep a close eye on pH, alkalinity and chlorine values and make regular adjustments. These values need to be in perfect balance for the maintenance products to do their job properly! In our starter kit, you will find everything you need to kick off the spa season!
What are good water values?
- pH: 7,2-7,6
- Chlorine: 1,5-2 ppm
So test the water values regularly (min. 1x/week) with our handy test strips!
Why is there foam on the water?
Foaming water is usually caused by too hard water. Fortunately, you can easily fix this with a foam remover!
pH imbalance and chemical overdose are also culprits. So check water values regularly and make adjustments to keep in balance.
Finally, it is important to rinse your swimwear thoroughly before going into the spa and use as little and mild detergent as possible. Residual shampoo in your hair can also cause foam.
How should I maintain the filter pump?
The filter pump is the engine of your spa, so maintain it properly! Do you have a cartridge filter pump? Then rinse the filter daily and replace the cartridges on average once a week.
Poolboy Marcel's budget tip: reuse your filter up to 3 times thanks to the following tips
• Clean the filter thoroughly with water after use and leave to dry for a week.
• If possible, blow off the dust and scale with a compressor.
• Then put the filter in the freezer for a week. This will kill any bacteria or remaining algae. After that, it is ready for reuse!
And what about a saltwater system?
With a saltwater system, the salt is converted into natural chlorine. Check the pH well first and then top up the salt.
How often should I change the water?

Tip to enjoy your fresh water longer
Before diving into the jacuzzi, rinse your bathing clothes! There may still be all sorts of detergent residue in them. These go into the spa with you, which can change the water values and also make your water dirty faster. By briefly rinsing yourself and your swimwear, you also rinse away other personal care products, such as body lotion or sunscreen. Not only should the water be clean, don't forget the bottom & walls of your spa!
Thanks to a flocculant, all the dirt particles in your pool stick together at the bottom. So you can easily vacuum up the dirt with a spa hoover. The walls can also use a scrub regularly! Use a soft cloth or special sponge to clean the spa walls. You will find all kinds of cleaning kits especially for your hot tub.
