The pH value of your pool is important because chlorine could do its job properly. So check the pH level regularly with a reusable test kit or disposable test strips. A pH higher than 7.6 will cause the chlorine to be less disinfecting. As a result, you may experience red eyes or dry skin. If too low, the water is too acidic and may turn a brown color.
Use pH up or pH down to maintain your pool's pH level.
