Pole string beans Helda is a widely used pole string bean variety. The high-yielding crop forms long, flat, broad pods that are stringless. This variety is used by professional gardeners for early and late greenhouse crops as well as for all outdoor crops. Helda is resistant to the rolling mosaic virus and black spot disease. Sowing: pole string beans are grown against climbing poles that are usually placed crosswise in rows, preferably in a north-south direction. Place the canes in rows 120 cm apart, keeping 50 cm between the canes in the row. Place 3 to 4 beans around each stick, about 3 cm deep. Do this in the open ground between mid-May and mid-July. Beans need plenty of heat and moderately moist soil. They germinate poorly in wet and cold weather. Do not use fresh farmyard manure. Harvest: Depending on the sowing time you can harvest from July to August. Suitable for freezing.
