Broad beans White sprout is a very well-known, high-yielding broad bean variety. It produces 4 to 5 large brown-cooking beans per pod that taste great. The specific broad bean taste is caused by tannic acid that also causes browning during cooking. Sow: in a greenhouse in January and then transplant in early March in the garden or: from March to mid April directly in the garden. Sow or plant in the garden in rows 80 cm apart and place the seeds 10 cm apart in the row. Broad beans soon suffer from black aphid infestation. You can fight this by spraying with preferably a biological preservative or by pinching out the tops of the plants as soon as they are fully grown and start to flower. Do not use fresh manure. Harvest: Depending on the sowing time, from the end of June to the beginning of August. Tip: Sowing a few rows of dill between the beans also helps protect against black lice. Suitable for freezing.
