The fruits of the Tomatillo or Mexican Earth Cherry are juicy and sweet and sour and rich in vitamins. You can eat them raw, make a chutney of them or use them for a sauce (salsa verde). You can keep the fruits in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks. Sow March-April indoors at 20-22C. In May outside, in a sunny spot, plant out at 40 x 40 cm or in large pots. The more sun the sweeter the fruits.
