Kohlrabi can easily be grown as a sprout vegetable with water. This variety produces beautiful deep purple sprouts packed with vitamins and nutrients. The sprouts have a mild, sweet and nutty flavor that goes well as a garnish with almost any dish. Kohlrabi is rich in vitamins A, B, C, E and K.
Sow the seed in a thin layer on a sowing grid and rinse gently under the tap. Fill a glass bowl with water to the bottom of the grid and place on a windowsill at normal room temperature (20-22°C). Change the water daily. You can also fill an empty butter dish with moist cotton wool and sprinkle the seeds on it. Keep the cotton wool well moist and enjoy your homegrown sprouts within 5 days. If you let the sprouts grow a little longer, you will get some more leaves. The sprouts can be kept in the refrigerator for about a week without losing their healthy properties.
