Artemisia abrotanum - pot 9x9 cm (Lemonwort)
Citroenkruid
Product information "Artemisia abrotanum - pot 9x9 cm (Lemonwort)"
Lemonweed is a hardy gray-colored shrub native to southern Europe that can grow up to 1.5 meters high and 30 to 60 cm wide, and blooms with yellow flowers from July to October. The young leaves at branch tips have a lemon fragrance. The taste is less pronounced and can be slightly bitter.
CULTIVATION TIPS:
Artemisia abrotanum is a hardy plant that likes a chalky, humus-rich and well-drained soil. In severe winters, protect the roots from the cold or overwinter the plant inside in a cool place. Because this plant originally comes from the South, it is best to provide it with a warm and sunny beach location. Water regularly but allow the pot ball to dry out slightly between waterings. Fertilize sparingly. During the summer months, it can be harvested by cutting the young tips of the branches. The plant should be pruned back in the fall, this is immediately the time with the greatest harvest.
USES:
Only the young tips of the leaves can be used fresh or dried, the remaining parts of the plant taste bitter and are not usable. You can add it to a glass of water for more flavor
Always use this herb sparingly. Most commonly known as an aroma herb and less for consumption.
