Product information "Ribes 'Josta' (Jostaberry) - pot - bush"
The jostaberry is the ideal plant for an ecological garden.
CULTIVATION TIPS:
The jostaberry is a cross between the black currant and the gooseberry. It is a monoecious plant, insects take care of pollination.
Jostaberry likes a spot in the sun or semi-shade on a humus-rich, slightly acidic soil.Harvesting can be done in July and August.
A lot of pruning is not necessary with the jostaberry, thinning the plant slightly each year and removing the too low side wood is more than sufficient.
ADVICE ON PROBLEMS:
Late night frosts can be detrimental to fruit set.
Use of a bird net is indicated, otherwise we will get fruit damage.
Early leaf drop is caused by leaf drop disease, in which small, brown spots appear on the leaves in June and leaf drop occurs in July and August.
Otherwise, the plant is not disease prone.
