Pheromone capsule against cherry fly

Pheromone against the cherry fly (Rhagoletis cerasi). The capsule is active for 6 weeks, 4 weeks in warm months. 1 capsule per bag.

Why? The cherry fly causes small white worms to appear in the cherries. These are visible when you cut open the fruit. Not very tasty at all. Because the cherry fly can affect your entire cherry crop, a preventive approach with Mc Phailval is necessary.

Hang out the cherry flytrap (not supplied) from the end of May, at the moment the cherries are already turning a little color. This is when the cherry fly begins to fly.

Hang 1 trap per large cherry tree (ground surface of 1 acre) or for several young cherry trees.

Mode of action The insects are attracted by the pheromone capsule at the top of the trap and fly into the trap through the opening of the inverted funnel. Once inside the trap, the insects remain attracted by the pheromone scents and by the light that enters through the transparent lid. When exhausted, they fall into the liquid located at the bottom of the inverted funnel and drown in it. As a liquid you can use water in which detergent is dissolved. After 6 weeks then change the pheromone capsule with a new capsule.

How to use
Drop the pheromone into the basket of the trap and close with the cap. The pheromones are all individually packaged in an aluminum pouch allowing you to drop the pheromone capsule directly from the pouch into the basket. This ensures that you do not contaminate the pheromone with the smell of your hands. You should NOT open or touch the pheromone.

The pheromone capsule/disc may look different from the one pictured. Of course we always ensure the highest pheromone quality, they are freshly produced and therefore have a shelf life of 2 years in the freezer.

Note: the capsules look empty (transparent) but they are certainly not! The pheromones are released from the capsule during several weeks. So you can 't see the liquid.
