Product information "Nematodes against Colorado potato beetle larvae 200m²"

  • against Colorado potato beetle larvae
  • Sent directly from supplier to customer For 200m²
  • min 10°C soil temperature

Please note: this product is delivered directly from the supplier with a general manual on the use of nematodes. Below you can find the corresponding information, specifically for the nematodes against Colorado potato beetle:

These nematodes can only be applied at a min. ambient temperature of 10°C (April/May) and for soil treatment after harvesting the potatoes.

How to use on the potato plant?

The nematodes are dissolved in water and then sprayed over the potato foliage. Both the top and underside of the leaf should be well moistened. This treatment should be done in the evening since the nematodes are not resistant to UV radiation and the leaf has to remain wet for at least 6 hours. in the evening the air humidity rises and the plants retain moisture longer. A leaf treatment with a conventional knapsack sprayer is possible but all filters smaller than 1 mm must be removed, otherwise the nematodes will be damaged.

It is recommended to use a wetting agent (organic fatty acid such as an ecological washing up product) so that the nematodes adhere better to the leaf. The treatment must be repeated after 1 week. You can use the same packaging if it is kept in a closed jar in the refrigerator and the expiration date has not yet expired.

The treatment can be carried out as soon as the larvae are present at an ambient temperature of 10°C.

Serious damage? Treat the soil as well!

If you have had a lot of trouble with Colorado potato beetles, it is best to treat the soil with nematodes after the potato harvest. The old larvae of the Colorado potato beetles drop from the leaves and crawl into the soil. At that moment it is best to control them with nematodes. By doing so, you will avoid another attack of Colorado potato beetles the next season or an infestation on the late potato varieties in the same season.
