Winter plantajune Senshyu Yellow is planted in September-October and can be harvested in June. The recommended minimum planting distance is 10 cm in the rows and 20-25 cm between rows. Tip: Onion prefers to grow in the sun, in a warm place. Onions also grow in almost all soils with a good structure, but preferably in a soil of fertile, loose, humus-rich soil that retains moisture but is sufficiently permeable.

If the soil is well maintained, fertilizing is not really necessary. If you do fertilize, do not use nitrogen-rich fertilizer (such as stable manure) to reduce the risk of diseases such as head rot or mold. Rather use a potassium-rich fertilizer.

The onion fly is about the only possible problem. Nice to know is that if you plant onions and carrots side by side, you will find that you have less trouble with both carrot and onion flies. Also for tuber and beet varieties, lettuce and tomatoes make good neighbors. Peas and beans, on the other hand, are to be avoided as neighbors.
