Kiwano or Horn melon
Cucumis metuliferus
The kiwano has a fresh-sweet taste and resembles a combination of
lemon and banana. The flesh is used in fruit salads and
desserts. Sow from March-April in pots at 22-25º C, after approx
4 weeks planting out in a hobby greenhouse. The plant should be
tied up. The female flowers, which are easily recognized
are because there is already a fruit principle under it, should preferably be with
be pollinated by hand.
