What types of lime are there?
There are 2 types of lime: lawn lime and seaweed lime.
• Lawn lime
his lime is enriched with extra magnesium, which contributes to a deep green and healthy lawn. Lawn lime is available in granular form, so you can easily spread it with a spreader or manually over your lawn.• Seaweed lime
Seaweed lime comes from fossil coccoliths and is rich in calcium and trace elements. It is suitable for use in the vegetable garden, ornamental garden and on the lawn. You can choose from granules or powder. Powder is absorbed faster by the soil, but is more difficult to spread. Granules, on the other hand, have a long-term effect.
When does your soil need lime?
It is usually enough to lime your lawn once a year if the soil is slightly acidified (pH between 5.5 and 6). The best times to do this are in late autumn or immediately after winter, in spring. If the soil is highly acidified (pH below 5), apply lime at both times until the pH returns to near neutral. Always measure the soil pH before applying lime!
After liming, wait a few weeks before fertilising so that the nutrients can be properly absorbed into the soil!
