Approval numbers

Plant protection products and biocides fall under the heading of "pesticides". These pesticides may not be applied in every country and are therefore assigned an approval number. A country code is always mentioned at the beginning of the approval number. These products can only be used in the country for which the approval number applies. For Belgium you will always see BE in front of the approval number and for the Netherlands this is the country code NL.
Protect the environment and public health. Use plant protection products & biocides safely. Before use, read the label with the safety instructions and product information.
Read here more about the use of pesticides on the portal belgium.be or click here for the federal government website for public health, food chain safety and environment.

Recommendations for a well-considered fight

Before using

  • I am sure of the diagnosis: I know the reason and the nature of the problem (if necessary I seek expert advice)
  • I prefer mechanical or biological methods.
  • I only buy the pesticide adapted to my situation in an appropriate quantity. If necessary I call on a certified advisor available in the shop or the call centre (0800.62.604), or I look at the website
  • I take the time to read and understand the label (if necessary I ask for the advice and instructions of an expert)
  • I make sure the application medium is appropriate and in good working order

During using

  • I use the dose recommended on the label, not more
  • In addition to the prohibition indicated on the label, do not apply plant protection products along water courses or on any surfaces (cobblestones, gravel, etc.) connected with them, including sewers
  • I observe safety: I wear appropriate clothing and gloves or the recommended protective equipment. I do not smoke, drink or eat when applying pesticides
  • I only spray when the weather conditions are favourable: not too hot, not too dry, not too much wind and no threatening rain when pesticides are used outside
  • I make sure not to apply pesticides in the presence of other persons, especially children

After using

  • I wash my hands carefully and clean protective equipment, especially gloves
  • I respect the waiting time indicated on the label. Paying attention to children and pets. In the vegetable garden, I respect the waiting period before harvesting
  • I take care to clean the treated surfaces or to ventilate rooms when pesticides have been applied indoors
  • I keep the pesticides in their original packaging in a dry, ventilated room, protected from heat and frost, far from foodstuffs and out of reach of children
  • I take the unused remains of the products and the empty packaging to the container park or to a collection point for hazardous chemical waste. I do not throw them in the dustbin or down the drain!

And of course

  • I have the number of the anti-poison centre to hand: 070/245.245
  • I will have the emergency number ready: 112

Phytolicenses

Our phytolicence number: 15.3.00576 - P3

What is a phytolicence?

Not just anyone can sell crop protection products and pesticides, for this you need a phytosanitary licence. This is a certificate which you can get from the federal government as a professional user, distributor or advisor and shows that you can handle crop protection products in a correct way.

At Hermie, we have a phytolicence type P3. This means that we are allowed to distribute pesticides for professional use and to give information about these products.

The purpose of a phytolicence?

To reserve the handling of crop protection products to persons with the necessary knowledge, in order to limit the risks of these products for humans, animals and the environment as much as possible.
The mandatory additional training keeps us up to date with the developments in crop protection. The introduction of the phytosanitary licence is part of the implementation of Directive 2009/128 to achieve sustainable use of pesticides.
