Tomato nose

SOS tomato nose

Do you spot brown, rotten spots on the underside of your blushing tomatoes? Then they are probably affected by tomato nose. But how can you avoid this?

1. Tomato nose is often the result of a calcium deficiency

So give the tomatoes plenty of appropriate fertiliser and (seaweed) lime! It is a good idea to lime the vegetable garden before and after growing tomatoes since tomato plants acidify the soil considerably.

2. Stick to a fixed watering schedule

Do you sometimes give the plants lots of water and then not for a while? Then the root system of the plant cannot absorb the water well, and the plant will extract moisture from the fruit. This causes the spots on the juicy fruit.

3. Ensure good air circulation in the greenhouse

This will also prevent all kinds of other fungal diseases from spreading.

Tip from Marcel

With an automatic window opener, the windows of your conservatory open automatically as soon as it gets too hot. Isn't that convenient? This way you can travel in peace & your plants get the necessary ventilation.
