Winterprei
Product information "Winter leek hybrid 50 pieces"
- Number: 50 pieces
A winter full of prèt, thanks to our fresh leek plants! 🧑🌾
This set contains 50 bare-root hybrid winter plants.
• When to plant
June-August
• How to plant?
Make a trench 10cm deep & keep 10cm distance between the leek plants. This will give them enough space to grow. After planting, run water into the trench so the soil & water can mix. From the end of August, we need to rid the soil. Leeks require a lot of nutrition so boost the plantlets regularly with organic fertilizer.
Do not plant leeks near peas, beans or potatoes. They are not good neighbors.
• When to harvest
September-February
• Watch out for diseases & pests!
During the summer there are a lot of diseases & pests lurking around. The leek moth likes nothing better than to devour your young leek plants. Protect your leek plants with insect netting and catch the leek moths thanks to special pheromone capsules and a delta trap. Spinosad also helps in the fight against the leek moth. 🦋
Moist weather increases the risk of the fungus leek rust . You can recognize these by the brown and orange spots on the leek leaves.
