Plantajuin Sturon (also: improved version of Stuttgarter) can be planted in spring and fall. If you plant in March-April you can harvest in July-August. When planted in the fall you can harvest in the following spring. The recommended minimum planting distance is 10 cm in the rows and 20-25 cm between rows. This yellow, round plant onion has excellent cooking quality, moderate earliness, excellent yield and long storage life. This plant onion comes in a net.

Tip: Onion grows best in the sun, in a warm place. Onion also grows in almost any soil with good structure, but preferably in a soil of fertile, loose, humus-rich soil that retains moisture, yet sufficiently permeable.

If the soil is well maintained, fertilizing is not really necessary. If you do add some fertilizer, do not use nitrogen-rich fertilizer (such as farmyard manure) to reduce the risk of diseases such as head rot or mold. Rather use a potassium-rich fertilizer.

When the onion foliage falls down, the onions can be uprooted. Then let them dry until the foliage is completely dry. You can now remove the foliage and store the onions in trays in a well-ventilated, dry area. Storage in the form of an onion braid is also possible. Here we braid the foliage of the onions together with a cord. We then hang the braid in a well-ventilated, dry room.

The onion fly is about the only possible problem. Nice to know is that if you plant onions and carrots side by side, you will find that you have less trouble with both carrot and onion flies. Also for tuber and beet varieties, lettuce and tomatoes make good neighbors. Peas and beans, on the other hand, are to be avoided as neighbors.
