The gray or black alder is a fairly large tree with a long, ovoid crown. The leaves are heart-shaped and medium green. During the flowering period red catkins appear on the tree. This tree is quite hardy, and can grow up to 25 meters high

PLANTING TELT:
The black alder does well in a spot in full sun or semi-shade. It is best to choose a soil that is well permeable and with an airy soil. This tree also does well in poorer soil. You can prune the black alder in the winter or early spring.
