Product information "Woodruff - pot 9x9 cm (Galium odoratum)"

Woodruff is rich in vitamin C, tannins and bitters.

CULTIVATION TIPS:
Lady's bedstraw is a perennial plant that prefers a spot in the sun or semi-shade. We plant it best in a loose, moist, nutrient-rich soil. Watering is necessary during periods of drought. We harvest the branches and leaves during flowering.

USE:
Woodruff is used for the preparation of the so-called May-bowl, which we make by sprinkling 1 small bunch of woodruff with 1 tablespoon of sugar, to which we add 2 dl of cognac and 1/2 l of dry white wine. We let it steep overnight. The next day we remove our woodruff and add another 2 l of wine and 1/2 l of champagne (can be replaced by sparkling water). Served chilled, this is the ideal drink to celebrate the beginning of summer. Other drinks can also be flavored by steeping a bunch of this herb in the liquid for a few hours.
Lady's wort is also used to flavor jams, teas and ice cream.

Tea helps with insomnia and nervousness. Furthermore, the herb has a blood purifying effect and also with indigestion, intestine and stomach cramps it can offer relief. CAUTION: the herb contains a lot of coumarin and should therefore only be used in moderation. At too high a dosage, nausea and headaches can occur. Coumarin also causes interactions with blood thinning medications. If you are taking such medications, then woodruff should only be used in consultation with a doctor.

Hanging scented bags with the herb in our closet chases away the moths.
