Crambe maritima - pot 9x9 cm (Sea kale)
Zeekool
Product information "Crambe maritima - pot 9x9 cm (Sea kale)"
Sea kale is a very tasty herb that you can eat both raw and cooked
PLANTING TIPS:
Sea kale is a hardy, perennial plant. The plant is salt-tolerant and occurs in the wild along some Central European coasts. In our garden, it is best to plant it in a sunny location, preferably in a dry, airy, well-limed soil.
During very hot summers, we need to water the plant sufficiently.
USES:
The most used in our kitchen are the blanched shoots. We bleach them by placing a flower pot upside down over the young shoots. Note: it is better to let the plant grow for 2 seasons before starting the bleaching process. We prepare the shoots like cauliflower, broccoli or asparagus. Raw we can add them to salads. The young, small leaves are also added to salads. The slightly larger, young leaves are then boiled or stewed like cabbage.
