Stenema contains nematodes to control larvae of potting soil fly, mourning fly, larvae of fruit fly in compost and pupae of thrips. The nematodes penetrate the larvae through natural body openings and then excrete bacteria - with which they live in symbiosis - into the host. The bacteria are lethal to the larvae. The larvae turn pale yellow and die within 2 days. The nematodes multiply in the dead larva, which causes a new generation of nematodes to develop in search of new prey. The soil temperature (potting soil) must be at least 10°C and sufficiently moist. Do not apply in full sun. For a treatment of 5 to 10 m2 soil surface area or 500 l potting soil/compost. The product can be stored for minimum 1 week at 5°C, to be used before the expiration date.
