Product information "Lemon verbena, vervain - pot ø13 cm (Aloysia triphylla)"

This semi-shrub originates from Chile and is considered moderately hardy in our area. In France this herb is used quite widely and is known there under the French name "verveine". The flowers are white violet and the leaves narrow and lanceolate. Lemon verbena grows easily in pots.

GENERAL:
Lemon verbena is not hardy and will lose its leaves in winter.

GROWTH TIPS:
In terms of maintenance and care, lemon verbena is certainly not a difficult plant. A sunny spot in the herb garden and an airy, well-drained soil are sufficient. In the summer give plenty of water. You can perfectly keep lemon verbena in a pot as a terrace plant. However, you should trim it regularly to prevent it from forming a messy bush. It is not a hardy plant so you should put it in a cool dry place before winter. In the spring it will certainly sprout but you will have to prune it a lot to keep its shape and also to promote flowering because it flowers on the new young wood.

CULINARY:
From the leaves you can draw delicious herbal tea.

MEDICINAL:
Tea of lemon verbena has a calming effect and has a positive influence on digestion. The tea also has a slight anti-anxiety effect, and for this reason is often drunk before bed.

VariaLemon verbena
can also be left to dry and put in linen bags like lavender. It gives your linen cupboard a wonderful fragrance.
