The gray flour moth, also known as Ephesita kuehniella, is a moth with a wingspan of 20 to 25 millimeters, native to India but long established in Europe. The caterpillar of the gray flour moth feeds mainly on wheat flour, but sometimes on other plant material or even dead insects. This moth is found mainly in corn mills and the food industry, where it can develop into a pest. Most sightings of the gray flour moth are made indoors. This moth overwinters as a caterpillar.

Pheromones are signaling substances that are exchanged between individuals of the same species and influence their behavior. There are several types of pheromones, such as sex pheromones that lure male butterflies from a long distance to females. Pheromones can be used to trap pests.

To trap away the gray flour moth, the delta trap is used as a pheromone trap. The pheromone capsules are packaged individually and last for 6 weeks. The pheromone attracts male moths and aims to break the cycle of the meal moth. The range of action of the pheromone is about 50 meters. Hanging the pheromone trap depends on the moth's flight season and in heated environments this can be year-round, with 4 to 6 consecutive generations per year.
